Grocery List Week 9: The Light Returns

Mark is moving Snack Shack to the farmhouse kitchen this afternoon. Please come over to the house, have a bite to eat, and debrief your week of cooking with us. I can hear him chopping away down there, whistling along to his music (today it's Billy Joel). He murmured something about maple parsnip pumpkin pie. I don't know what that means but I trust his instincts. Come over during pickup today and find out!

We ate really well at our house this week, thanks to Mark cooking lunch for the whole team every day. In the photo below, see his savory curried squash pies with turmeric crust. This was a reboot of a thick curried squash soup from the day before, and a great example of how you can cook a large amount of something, and work it into different dishes all week without getting bored. As you all probably know by now, I really believe that whole food cooking must be both efficient and delicious and this concept of reusing ingredients without repeating dishes is the biggest key! See Mark's method and recipe.

I hope this is not too overwhelming but I also wanted to share his bread pudding method, because we all loved it and maple syrup season is starting. This is the sort of dish that feels nourishing and healthy enough to eat for breakfast without guilt, but also delicious enough to serve at the end of a dinner alongside some extra maple syrup and whipped cream. Check out Mark’s recipe.

Bread & Baked Goods

Courtney of The Drifter's Loaf is delivering all four types of bread early this afternoon so there will be fresh bread for sale in the farm store all weekend. We also have her bread for sale from the freezer if you come by later in the week.

Thank you, members, for supporting this alternative food system. We're ever grateful for the opportunity to grow food for you. Please send me your favorite dish — they give me much joy.

— Kristin

PS, If you are picking up over the weekend and notice we're out of or critically low on something, would you please send me a text at 518-645-4658 so I can refresh it? Thank you!
